“It is the sweet simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” Laura Ingalls Wilder
During a country drive from Melbourne some 22 odd years ago I stopped into a small country bakery for a bite to eat. Located in the quaint township of Kyneton I was mesmerised by how friendly the folks were, how fresh the air smelt and how bright the sun shone on my face. Face and teeth immersed in a paper bag containing an award winning meat pie my eyes glanced towards the bakery’s window front. There, stuck on the window was a sheet of paper. Secured with a blob of Blu-tack it flapped in the breeze and wanting to read the handwritten words I balanced my pie and coffee in one hand and secured the paper with the other. People talk about epiphanies, about profound experiences that changed their life and up until then I’d never had one. The above quote was that epiphany for me. Of course the experience wasn’t as graceful as one might hope. My attention deep in imagination and possibility I didn’t realise my pie was slowly bending to gravity and in an attempt to salvage the situation, my coffee fell as well. Devastated as I was at the loss of my lunch, I cleaned the mess up and went straight to the local real estate and the rest was as they say is history.
Over the years we have become a family farm. We grow our own fruit, veg and medicinal herbs. We raise our own animals for meat. We make our own cleaning and beauty products. We bake our own bread and preserve our own foods. We grow our own herbal remedies. We aim to be as self sufficient, organic, and sustainable as we reasonably can be. While our main goal is to grow an abundance of fruit, veg. At our market stalls, online, and in several local businesses, you will also find many other products that have come from our farm, kitchen or shed.
We believe good food should be available and affordable to everybody.
